Pioneer Performance: In Wilmington, Ohio on Saturday, women’s swimming and diving senior Chelsea Diamond won the 200 backstroke, and placed second in both the 100 backstroke and the 50 freestyle. Diamond was also part of the second-place Medley 200 Relay Team as the Pioneer women split a double dual meet, defeating Wilmington, but falling to Wittenburg.

Matchup of the Week: This weekend marks the inaugural show of the Equestrian team, making it the 21st varsity sport here at Transylvania University, and will head to Morehead State University for its first show on Saturday and Sunday. The team has joined the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, one of the 370 collegiate teams in the conference, and will compete in “hunt seat” competitions.

Player to Watch: The women’s basketball team opens its season this Thursday night at 8 pm against the Wittenburg Tigers in the Hanover Classic. After leading the team in points last season, look for sophomore guard Nicole Coffman to lead an all-around more experienced Pioneer squad on Thursday.
